Work In The Community

David is actively involved in Q103 Kidz which is Q103's Radio Station registered charity. It has been running for over 10 years - in that time, over £200,000 has been raised and distributed to community projects ranging from the purchase of minibuses for the disabled to funding play equipment for disadvantaged children.

The charity's aims are simple: to assist community projects and people by offering support, expertise and influence.

All money raised in Cambridge, Newmarket, Ely and Huntingdon stays in the area and is spent on community projects making a real difference to disadvantaged people around here.

Another Charity that David is a patron of is Wintercomfort. Wintercomfort is a Cambridge based charity that runs the only day centre for the homeless in South Cambridgeshire and one of only two such day centres in the whole of East Anglia. It also provides a five day a week doctor's surgery (most GPs won't treat people without a home address), a job training and confidence-building course, help with rent and deposit on accommodation, and assistance with emergency winter shelters. Wintercomfort gives people who would otherwise beg on the streets a place to sit down, sort out their lives, and link in with a range of other essential services.

David is a main board member of the Greater Cambridge Partnership, which represents the aspirations of the public, private and community sectors and unite them in achieving a common goal. Their vision is to make Greater Cambridge a world leader in the knowledge based economy, which combines business success with a high quality of life for all. They support the managed growth of the area by building upon its recognition by the European Commission as a centre of excellence for innovation and by supporting more traditional business.

David is also Chairman of the Chaplaincy to People at Work in the Cambridge and surrounding areas. An ecumenical charity committed to supporting people in their places of work. Churches of all denominations work together to provide chaplaincy to working people of all faiths and none. It is widely recognised that stress-related problems affect performance at work and that the first step to resolution is to share them with someone. They provide informal and confidential listening and counselling service and also provide assistance to business and organisations, both managerial and staff, coping with change in structure and practices.

As well as David giving his time and effort to local charities his company also sponsor local organisations; The Perse School for Girls Polo team in Cambridge, Longstanton Football Club and St Ives Ewes Cambridge United Supporters Bus.
